DMK president M K Stalin on Sunday alleged that Tamil Nadu under the TVK government was witnessing a competition between sexual crimes and the spread of drugs, news agency Press Trust of India reported.Stalin also accused the government led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay of administrative failure, citing crimes against women, child kidnappings, power cuts and rising prices.Addressing a function in Chennai, Stalin said Vijay was āshouting and levelling allegations of an evil forceā, but people understood who that āevil forceā was.Vijay, the founder-president of the TVK, has often described the DMK as an āevil forceā. He has also projected himself as the political heir to the welfare legacy of AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, praising their steadfast opposition to the DMK.
Stalin recalled that before becoming chief minister in 2021, he had said his government would provide such good governance that even those who had not voted for the DMK would regret their decision.āIf you ask about the situation today, the state of governance is such that not only those who did not vote, but even those who did vote for the TVK are lamenting. That is the truth.
You must understand this. Hence, under this reels governance, not only are those who did not vote for them lamenting, but even those who voted for them are doing so today,ā PTI quoted him as saying. āEvery single day, whether you pick up a newspaper, watch television or scroll through social media, there is not a day without news of murder, robbery, theft and sexual assault in the state,ā the former chief minister alleged.
He added that reports of child kidnappings had been emerging continuously over the past five to six days.Referring to Vijay's statement that the political contest was only between the TVK and the DMK, Stalin said he had earlier responded that the ācompetition was only between power cuts and sickle attacksā.āToday, that has changed, and the competition in the state is between sexual violence and the prevalence of drugs,ā Stalin said.On the āSingappenā special police force set up by the TVK government for women's safety, Stalin said the situation had reached a point where another force was needed just to protect the āSingappenā force. The DMK chief alleged that Tamil Nadu was facing rising prices, power outages and a ācollapseā of administration, while sexual crimes against women had become a recurring occurrence.Stalin's criticism centred on what he described as worsening law and order, the spread of drugs, crimes against women, power cuts, rising prices and administrative failure under the TVK government.- Ends
