Jamia Shifts To Online Classes Amid Hunger Strike Over Student Polls And Row Over SlogansJamia Millia Islamia has decided to conduct all classes online with immediate effect until further notice, citing campus safety concerns amid ongoing student demonstrations. Students at the central university have been staging protests and a hunger strike to demand the restoration of the student union elections, the revocation of student suspensions and campus bans, and the resignation of the Chief Proctor following clashes with campus security guards.

The controversy intensified after slogans mentioning Kashmir, Sharjeel Imam, the RSS, and the BJP were seen on university walls before being removed. The demonstrations took a political turn after opposition members of Parliament, including Congress leader Imran Masood and Samajwadi Party leader Mohibullah Nadvi, were detained by Delhi Police while attempting to meet the protesting students at Gate Number Seven.

While opposition leaders questioned the suspension of students and demanded union polls, the BJP termed the graffiti an anti-national conspiracy.
