A day after anti-drug crusader Parvinder Singh Jhotta was killed while confronting a chemist over alleged drug peddling in Mansa, prime accused Ashwini was arrested from Salasar in Rajasthan. Authorities demolished the suspect's house, while an angry mob comprising locals and Nihangs attacked the chemist's shop, pelting stones and setting it on fire. A new video surfaced showing Jhotta confronting the chemist before he was killed. The incident has sparked a political controversy ahead of elections in Punjab, with the BJP and Congress targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's government over law and order and the drug menace, while the Aam Aadmi Party asserted that strict action would be taken against all perpetrators.
