Nursing student drowns near Dharmasthala

A 21-year-old nursing student drowned in a river at Parpikallu in Nidle village, near Dharmasthala in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, on October 20.The police gave name of the deceased as Keerthan, 21, a resident of Moodubail in Koukradi village of Belthangady taluk. He was pursuing a nursing course in a college in Mangaluru.The police said Keerthan had come to his house during the vacation.

He went with his friends to swim in the river. Keethan got caught in the water current.

His friends called local swimmers for help. On October 20 evening, Keethan’s body was recovered, police said.
