Meerut,Oct 24, 2026 19:02 ISTMuskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla have challenged their death sentences in the Allahabad High Court in Meerut’s blue drum murder case.A Meerut court sentenced both to death on October 14 for killing Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, cutting up his body and concealing the remains in a cement-filled drum.According to the prosecution, the two planned the murder to continue their relationship without Saurabh.
They killed him on March 3, 2025, and concealed his remains in a blue drum at the couple’s house. The court convicted Muskan and Sahil on September 30. Police had filed a chargesheet of around 1,000 pages, and final arguments concluded on September 17.
District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra pronounced the sentences with both convicts appearing through video conferencing from jail. Saurabh’s mother, Renu Rajput, and his brother attended the hearing.Saurabh’s family had sought the death penalty for both.
Muskan’s parents also submitted a written statement saying they would not oppose a death sentence for their daughter. After the sentencing, Saurabh’s mother urged couples to separate rather than turn to violence.“If you don't want to live together, separate, but don't kill someone's child.
For us, our child has not gone anywhere. His memories are in every corner of the house,” she said.- Ends
