Producer Ektaa Kapoor has spoken about what she described as prevalent Hinduphobia within the entertainment industry, noting that wearing religious symbols and discussing Hindu folklore and mythology can still draw negative judgement. During an appearance on The Ranveer Show hosted by Ranveer Allahabadia, the head of Balaji Telefilms discussed her project, The Vvaan, which draws inspiration from traditional folklore.

Addressing the industry's attitude toward traditional themes, Ektaa remarked that there is often an aversion to discussing indigenous mythology, even when animation or other speculative elements are accepted. She expressed her comfort in bringing these stories to the screen and voiced a desire for greater cultural acceptance of such narratives.

Looking back at her youth, Ektaa recalled being mocked for wearing religious markings. She shared that someone once criticized her attire and questioned her for wearing a tilak and a sacred thread, prompting her to defend her choices. Host Ranveer Allahabadia noted that she had also been labeled a tantrik by critics at times, to which the producer agreed that openly displaying religious beliefs has often been treated as problematic.

She also recounted an instance where she was questioned after visiting a club directly following a temple visit, expressing surprise at the shock expressed by others over her routine. While Allahabadia suggested that societal attitudes are shifting, Ektaa agreed and reflected on her past career choices, noting that she had sometimes been ahead of her time while now embracing a more contemporary outlook.

The conversation also highlighted her ongoing efforts in filmmaking, including the release of her project The Vvaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film, which debuted in cinemas on September 25, 2026, has achieved a worldwide gross collection of approximately Rs 90 crore while continuing its theatrical run.
