Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Sonia Gandhi made numerous attempts and investments to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister, but after failing, organized a mock parliament in Mallikarjun Kharge's lawn where he became Prime Minister. Sarma added that while Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister in mock parliaments, Narendra Modi remains Prime Minister in the original Parliament.

This followed remarks by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who similarly mocked the event, asserting that Rahul Gandhi could never become Prime Minister in the real Parliament. The mock parliament had been organized by opposition parties as a symbolic public impeachment demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, while the Congress party has maintained silence on the BJP leaders' remarks.
