Ahead of the INDIA bloc’s November 1 'Chalo Dilli' rally in Delhi, a fake newspaper clipping, an old video, an AI-generated and a quote falsely attributed to Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor were widely shared in connection to it. Let’s debunk them one at a time.INDIAN EXPRESS FRONT PAGE IS FAKEOne photo going viral allegedly showed the October 27 New Delhi edition of The Indian Express front page.
The headline said, “INDIAN RAILWAYS SEES MASSIVE SURGE IN PASSENGERS AHEAD OF CHALO DELHI RALLY."We found several discrepancies in this. For one, the newspaper said October 27 was Monday, whereas it was actually Tuesday.
The Indian Express tagline 'Journalism of Courage' appeared in black, whereas it was printed in red in the original edition. We also noticed distorted faces, which suggested that the image was either synthetic or modified using AI. Detection tools concluded that it was generated using OpenAI’s AI tools.
We also checked the e-paper of the October 27 New Delhi edition of The Indian Express and found no such headline. The newspaper’s website also did not feature any story like this.According to a November 1 report in The Times of India, the Delhi Traffic Police announced restrictions and diversions across parts of Central Delhi from 10 am to 5 pm and advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly.
They also suggested alternative routes for passengers travelling to New Delhi Railway Station.VIDEO FROM 2025 A video going viral shows a massive crowd gathering in an open ground. Allegedly, this was from the rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on the morning of November 1.Reverse-searching the video’s frames led us to Instagram posts by Congress leaders Harish Rawat and Deepender Singh Hooda.
Both shared the video on December 14, 2025, describing it as footage from the party’s rally against “vote theft.”Per reports, the Congress party held a 'Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod' rally at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on December 14, 2025.AI-GENERATED IMAGEA photo of a massive gathering in an open ground was shared with the claim that it showed the Ramlila Maidan on the morning of November 1.This image features distorted faces of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi on posters. OpenAI's detection tool found that the image was generated using its tools.Notably, the INDIA bloc expected “nearly one million people” from across the country to attend their rally.
However, the police planned a capacity of about 50,000 people for the Ramlila Maidan. They also said overflow would be held back on the surrounding roads.KAREENA'S POST ISN’T REALA screenshot of an Instagram post allegedly made by Kareena Kapoor Khan was also viral.
Per the image, she asked people to join the Opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan. We found no such post on the actor’s Instagram account. The same OpenAI detection tool concluded that this image was also generated using its AI tools. The text on the screenshot says to join the rally “tomorrow”, which means the post would have to have been made on October 31.
Had she really posted this, it would have been widely reported, but we found no credible reports. Thus, it’s clear that the post isn’t real.- Ends
