Delhi Police Files FIR Against Congress MP Angomcha Bimal Akoijam Over Sexual Harassment Plaint

The Delhi Police has registered a First Information Report against Congress Member of Parliament and Jawaharlal Nehru University professor Angomcha Bimal Akoijam at Vasant Kunj North Police Station. The case follows a formal complaint lodged by JNU's chief security officer after an internal university inquiry investigated allegations of sexual harassment and molestation raised by students. The internal committee's findings reportedly highlighted inappropriate questioning, sexually explicit remarks, and screenings in class, leading to the termination of his services by JNU authorities. Sections 75 and 75(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have been invoked. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has launched severe political attacks against the Congress leadership, questioning the silence of top leaders and planning street protests. akoijam has denied all allegations, describing them as baseless and politically motivated.
