An 18-year old boy was hacked to death in Alwarkarkulam near Srivaikuntam on Sunday over a land dispute and previous enmity over sewage disposal.Police said the deceased was identified as M. Esakkiraja.
Investigations revealed that Esakkiraja and his mother had reportedly lodged a complaint with Srivaikuntam police over the dispute some time ago. He was allegedly killed after returning from a village committee meeting on Sunday.
The motive of the murder is suspected to be linked to the land dispute and enmity over sewage disposal.Srivaikuntam police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem examination at Tirunelveli Government Medical College and Hospital.A case has been registered at Srivaikuntam police station, against 12 persons for the crime. Ananth alias Arumugam, 21, Rajasankar, 33, Suresh, 45 and a juvenile, all residents of Alwarkarkulam.
