Actor Imran Khan Asked To Leave India, Mumbai Police Notice Follows August Kranti Maidan Protest
Bollywood actor Imran Khan has been issued a notice by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office of the Mumbai Police directing him to leave India by October 28. The move follows his participation in a protest held at Mumbai's August Kranti Maidan demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. According to police sources, the demonstration was deemed an unlawful assembly as it lacked required permissions, leading to Khan's brief detention. The action was initiated under provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act because Khan is not an Indian citizen and holds foreign nationality. Complaints regarding his participation in the protest were submitted by citizens and political figures, including Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirit Somaiya. Mumbai Police have registered a case regarding the unlawful assembly and are identifying other attendees through video footage to issue notices.
