Nagar. | Photo Credit: R. Ashok Rain lashed various parts of Madurai city for well over 90 minutes on Thursday night.Many low-lying areas were inundated on the northern side of the city.
Vehicles were stranded on Ghokale Road.Though there was no heavy wind, Tangedco enginners suspended power supply in a few areas, including Sellur and Arapalayam.Madurai Corporation officials were waiting for the rain to stop so that the workers could pump out water from the subway near Ponnagaram, a senior official said.There were heavy traffic jams near Madurai Railway junction, MGR Integrated Bus Stand at Mattuthavani and on Kuruvikaran Salai.In the suburban areas such as Sholavandan and Thirumangalam, rain lashed halting vehicles on NHAI roads.
